America¨s
most successful training aircraft of World War 1.the Curtiss JN-4 was an
improved version of the JN-3.the Jenny relied heavily on the incredibly robust
OX-5 engine for its success in the instructional role. The entry of America into
World War 1 in April 1917 resulted in orders for the Jenny that totalled over
6000 examples by the time production ended soon after the November 1918
Armistice.Perhaps the type¨s greatest Work.however.was done postwar when
hundreds of surplus machines were sold cheaply to private buyers.thus helping to
establish civil aviation in the USA.Today, the Jenny is the world¨s most
populous genuineWorldWar 1 type. with examples
Remaining airworthy in North America and the UK.
